Mardi Gras is Over, Let the Music Begin!

by Chef T on February 25, 2009

Alright, I am squeezing this post in just before midnight. At the stroke of twelve, Mardi Gras is officially over. My sadness in not being there this year is being relieved by the thoughts of music in the air this Spring! This year brings great timing in the month of April in New Orleans.

French Quarter Festival runs April 17th through April 19th. French Quarter Fest is a fabulous time to take in the local flavor of music appreciation in New Orleans. You are able to walk through Woldenberg Park and the entire heart of the French Quarter and hear non-stop music on eighteen different stages over the course of three days…all for free! Gathered on these stages is the best of the best of tried and true New Orleans musicians. It is a very special time.

Up next on the calendar is The JazzFest of JazzFest’s – The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Kicking off on April 24th and running both weekends through May 3rd, there is a unique opportunity to capture both events in one trip! JazzFest in New Orleans is unlike any musical event in the country. Go ahead and look up heritage in the dictionary. Then, go to New Orleans for JazzFest so you can really understand the meaning. This year is their 40th anniversary and it promises to be stellar. Go to the site and look at the line-ups!

Make a trip to New Orleans this year in April. It is the ticket to the best Musical Relief Package you can find on the planet. And, by the way, both festivals double as food festivals.

Let the good times roll!
